Monthly Wrap-Up – October

Weight Loss Progress

Weight Loss Progress

Today marks the last day of October so it’s time to wrap up this month. On October 13th, when I started my diet, I weighed 76.6 kg. After 19 days of dieting my weight has dropped to 72.1 kg. That leaves me with a total loss of 4.5 kg. Obviously, I’m very happy with the results.

Day 11

Yesterday was not an easy day for me personally. I got quite depressed by the end of the day after I had visited the local animal shelter and had been told that I would not qualify as an owner to one of their cats. The fact that I have had a cat for the past twelve years didn’t seem to change their mind. A cat that even right now is napping right next to me – perfectly happy, perfectly healthy. Anyhow, back to the point. I got seriously quite upset because of that and skipped my daily exercise. Nonetheless, I managed to follow my diet and still lost some weight.

Today’s weight: 73.1 kg

My recent weight loss has continued to be too quick and it worries me a bit. Still, at the same time it motivates me to go on with my diet. I’m still listing everything I eat and drink and attempt to fulfill my daily needs for proteins, carbohydrates etc. I even pay attention to vitamins and minerals so I should be fine. And as long as I’m physically able to exercise I probably haven’t starved myself to death, right?

FInally, good news of the day:

My BMI has fallen below 27

Weekly Wrap-Up – Initial Feelings

Week 1

Today is day 7 on my diet and that means that it’s time for my first weekly wrap-up. I intend to start a series of posts in which I go through my thoughts, feelings, random notions and the actual numbers related to each passing week.

Body Mass Index

In one of my earlier posts I used reverse BMI to determine my ideal weight. The so called body mass index can also be used as an interesting tool to keep track with weight loss.

So, in order to avoid getting overly bored with kilograms, I’ve decided to start posting regular updates on my BMI as well. I’ll be using the simple BMI Calculator I found on MyFitnessPal.com.

This is where I was on day 1:

Now, on day 7, my body mass index has already gone down to 27.3.

Setting My Goal

Tomorrow is the big day when my new life is supposed to start. My main goal is to lose weight to the point where I feel healthier, happier and less clumsy. But since I tend to be a rather practical person, an abstract goal like that can be quite hard for me to grasp. Therefore I have consulted my dear old friend, the Internet, in order to find out how much – or little – I actually should weigh.

A site called Calories per Hour made this task ridiculously simple:

The site also mentioned many other points that I found interesting and important. One is the fact that different people have different frames. Some of us are naturally more muscular and thus will inevitably weigh more. Hence, looking at my own body, I’d guess that I would be quite happy if I’d manage to drop my weight to 65 kilos.

But exactly how big a task is that going to be? I’ll find out tomorrow when I step on the scale for the first time during this diet.
